Alton Towers Trip!

We will be organising a trip to Alton Towers during the Summer term! The trip will consist of a little bit of work and a lot of FUN FUN FUN!

Guest speakers at Alton Towers will be on hand to give a talk on business and the tourist attrraction itself. You will find out all about the work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure the amusement park and hotel are as successful as possible.

Enterprise Guest Speakers

On Wednesday 7^th December 2011 the business students were invited to attend a veritable treat of guest speakers who can all boast entrepreneurship!

The guest speakers were Louise Roberts of Beach Hill Nursery, Vikki Todd of Cinnamon Property Lawyers and William Scullion of Adrenaline (who proudly host the Krypton Factor Assault Course as one of their attractions for adrenaline junkies everywhere).

Each of the entrepreneurs discussed the trials and tribulations of setting up their businesses and students were encouraged to ask questions to find out what it would be like to run their own business in the future.

The event was an incredible success and no doubt left the students with an increased inspiration to consider company ideas of their own as well as obtaining key information which could help them move forward within their business education.

Student of the Month Announcement

It was decided after much painstaking deliberation to award two winners of the first Student of the Month competition! The winners are posted on the notice board outside of the Business staff room (T411).

Congratulations and well done to both of the students and a big pat on the back to all of the students nominated this month. It was a tall order to choose two deserved winners from the list of fabulous students.

The winners are in line for an Eldon Square shopping voucher and they will also progress towards the Student of the Year award at the end of the academic year

Christmas Market

The Christmas Market is due to take place on Wednesday 14th December in the foyer of Trevelyan building between the hours of 9.30am – 12.30pm.

Many wondrous items will be on sale to make your Christmas, well Christmassy!

Show your support for the business students who will be running the market by dropping by and possibly buying some of the outstanding goodies on offer.

The One Black Pen’ Charity Auction

This year’s auction was a rip roaring success and it was great to see many students and staff there to fight it out for the vast array of items on offer. The auction took place on Friday 9th December at 12pm in Space.

Neil Gow has to be the undisputed champion auctioneer, with his blend of humour and eagle eyedness, proceedings went swimmingly.

Many of the items on offer created a bidding frenzy and the business students modelled the items and helped to keep proceedings flowing and created an event which allowed many successful bidders leave with a smile on their face!

The charity which will benefit from the money raised is Henshaw's Society for Blind People and the total cash pot came to £395. An excellent sum of money!

OneBlackPen Auction - 9th December

OneBlackPen is a project by second year level 3 business students to raise money for Henshaw's Society for Blind People. They have been swapping their 'one black pens' for a huge pile of ... stuff, and now it can be yours in an auction in SPACE BAR at 12 noon, FRIDAY 9th DECEMBER. 

Lots include a Top Shop Personal Shopping Experience, a Subway 'as long as you are tall', a weekend at a luxury cottage and more cuddly toys than you can feasibly cuddle!
